People looking for offices to rent in Northampton may be interested to hear that male employees could soon be entitled to longer paternity leave.
The Liberal leader Nick Clegg is set to outline proposals that suggest men should be able to take more time off after the birth of their child.
He will denounce the current system as "Edwardian" and recommend that mothers and fathers be able to share maternity leave should women want to return to work.
This way, men and women could either be off work at the same time or take it in turns to stay at home with a newborn.
The proposals expand on the previous government's plans to allow ladies to transfer their remaining maternity leave to their partner.
Under the coalition, this new law will come into force in April.
Mr Clegg is married to lawyer Miriam Gonzalez Durantez and the couple have three sons, Antonio, Alberto and Miguel.
