Companies looking for offices to rent in Northampton may be interested to hear that the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is calling on the government to help make recruitment more appealing to organisations.
It was suggested that job creation is "key in kick-starting meaningful economic growth" and that employment laws should be deferred to encourage small businesses to recruit new people.
The FSB also urged the government to raise the threshold at which firms must start paying VAT to £90,000 to reduce the burden of the VAT increase from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent that is effective from today (January 4th).
"This would help to provide small firms with much needed cash-flow, allowing them to invest back into the business through lower prices or taking on more staff," the federation stated.
Elsewhere, the FSB recently encouraged banks, landlords, local authorities and the government to give small organisations some leeway with payments during the period of bad weather.
