Companies operating out of offices to rent in Northampton may want to consider how cyber crime is affecting their business.
David Blackwell, director of cyber security at information intelligence provider Detica, explained that some organisations in the private sector are aware of the problem but unsure how to deal with it.
However, others are in the dark about the issue and likely to be losing information without realising or needing to.
"Certain industries, for example if intellectual property is critical to their business, are often much more aware of the problem because they've seen some of the impact of these attacks already happening," Mr Blackwell stated.
It was suggested that the government will be addressing the problem and looking to collaborate with industries to gain an insight into the extent of the issue.
Independent technology analyst Ovum recently claimed that enterprises are not taking the threat of cyber espionage seriously enough and need to do more to prevent attacks.
