Businesses operating out of offices to rent in Northampton may be interested to hear that construction workloads fell in the last quarter of 2010.
The latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) Construction Market Survey revealed that most regions saw levels fall sharply.
Northern Ireland and Scotland posted the worst rates with net balances of -52 and -23 respectively, while the south-east and London area was the only place to report positive activity in Q4.
The research found that while trades people and professionals reduced their prices, the cost of materials rose considerably.
Rics chief economist Simon Rubinsohn said: "The rebound in the construction sector seems to have run out of steam."
He added that the industry is "under significant pressure as public spending costs begin to bite".
Elsewhere, Rics recently produced a new document entitled Managing Organisational Change - Part 1 developing the Plan for Change in order to help professionals learn new strategies as business models develop.
