Employees operating out of offices to rent in Edinburgh may want to think twice about letting expense claims slide following one expert's comments.
Lawrence Gold, presenter of the BBC's Bank of Mum & Dad, explained how failing to claim back work-related outlay would be foolish in the current economic climate.
He described how the results of a survey by Concur found that individuals stand to lose as much as £270 per year if they do not hand in receipts.
It was suggested that "laziness" could be the underlying reason for many workers' ambivalence, with a considerable number of employees claiming they could not be bothered with the hassle.
"We're switching utility providers, we're switching mobile phone providers – why are we not claiming money back that we should have in our pocket?," Mr Gold mused.
The Concur research also revealed that one in 20 people spend around £600 per year of their own funds on legitimate work costs.
