Temporary staff in offices to rent in Edinburgh may be some of the people who the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has argued should receive benefits from flexible working legislation.
It should not just be targeted towards permanent employees as their part-time colleagues could similarly benefit, according to the body.
Many workers sought these positions as they enable them "to balance commitments such as childcare or education whilst continuing their careers", REC head of policy Gillian Econopouly said.
"Innovative and flexible solutions" can be discovered through cooperation between firms and their workforce, as this establishes "mutually beneficial working arrangements", she continued.
Ms Econopouly explained that many people start their careers in part-time and temporary positions as they need to gain workplace skills and experience, asserting this is "an invaluable way for jobseekers to enter the labour market".
Small and medium-sized enterprises could be negatively affected if this right is extended to all employees, the Engineering Employers Federation stated.
