Serviced offices in Cardiff could be some of the places that an MP wishes to receive mandatory ratings based on fuel efficiency.
Display Energy Certificates are currently essential on all public sector buildings, but not those in the private sector.
However, MP Zac Goldsmith has tabled a new clause to the Energy Bill, which would see this extended across all commercial property.
Paul King, chief executive of the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC), said: "Zac Goldsmith has hit the nail on the head with this proposal."
He explained that businesses are widely in support of the idea, as it would help them to reduce their energy consumption and provide a "level playing field" when comparing premises.
The UK-GBC and the British Property Federation have released a list containing over 80 British enterprises that support the MP's amendment to the bill, which is currently at the committee stage in the House of Commons.
Mr Goldsmith has called this "a hugely important piece of legislation".
