Companies running from offices to rent in Cardiff may wish to ensure their flexible working provisions extend to all staff, after the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) said the government should oblige all firms to provide this to their workforce.
If this does not occur, it could provide "a perverse disincentive for small businesses to expand", CIPD employee relations adviser Mike Emmott said.
He argued that many enterprises already anticipate this policy to affect them in the near future and are currently "willing to consider requests from any employee".
These organisations realise that enabling their staff to maintain a work-life balance can assist both the individuals within the company as well as the firm itself, Mr Emmott continued.
He asserted that people may be more productive if they are performing their tasks in a more flexible manner rather than "reluctantly working a typical working day".
The CIPD has around 135,000 members in positions such as management, recruitment and workforce development.
