Directors with offices to rent in Cardiff who wish to establish a creative enterprise may want to encourage ideas among their workforce.
Alex Evans, editorial director and co-chair of the Orange National Business Awards, said creating a "culture of innovation" involves a variety of different techniques.
It often occurs when business leaders have "engaged staff so that they've become prouder employees", he noted.
Ideas are "refined and nurtured" at a fast rate and individuals at the company establish a "sense of champions", where contributing workers are "recognised very quickly" by others within the business, the expert continued.
Larger corporations often find this more challenging, but some of the biggest organisations function in this manner, Mr Evans pointed out.
Firms that have achieved this may eventually be nominated for the Orange National Business Awards, the 2011 finalists for which were revealed on August 2nd.
There was a notable growth in the proportion of smaller enterprises in this year's shortlist.
