Businesses operating from offices to rent in Cardiff might wish to ensure their health and safety policy is adequate, as this could potentially reduce the chances of a member of staff successfully seeking compensation.
Senior policy and technical advisor at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health Jill Joyce said a firm taking "basic steps" to minimise risks prevents "damage to their bottom line from costly claims".
When a policy has been successfully instilled in a workforce, a company can gain from "long-term improvements", she added.
The expert noted instruction and training in this area, teaching people "good housekeeping techniques" and that they should inform people of any problems, or altering the layout of the place of work can all "work towards embedding a safety culture" into an enterprise.
Reducing the likelihood of a member of staff slipping, tripping or falling is also important, as incidents of this type cost British corporations around £520 million annually due to expenses including civil injury claims, Ms Joyce had previously declared.
