A new government approach to relations with suppliers may benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) occupying serviced offices in Northampton.
Speaking at a summit of 31 of the coalition's key contractors, minister for the cabinet office Francis Maude outlined reforms the state will put in place to make business with the administration easier.
In addition, Mr Maude will describe what is expected from the suppliers, with particular attention being paid to their relations with SMEs.
"We will open up the market to smaller suppliers and mutuals and we will expect you to partner with them as equals, not as sub-ordinates," he stated.
Mr Maude added the days when huge IT contracts were handed out is coming to an end, with firms the government conducts dealings with expected to rethink the way they approach projects - making them open source and smaller whenever possible.
Earlier this week, Peter Ewen, managing director of Venture Finance, observed SMEs - including those in offices to rent - need to be given increased access to lending in order for them to overcome the economic challenges they currently face.
