Firms occupying serviced offices in Cardiff may have benefited from government help they have received to implement environmentally-friendly initiatives.
Editor of BusinessGreen.com James Murray said there is now genuine support for businesses looking to be greener in the way they work.
"Whether they are doing enough, I think most of the green groups would tell you, they are probably not," he stated, adding policies that are currently being considered could be rolled out with more urgency.
Mr Murray added businesses have to help themselves and make the most of the opportunities they are given to maintain sustainability.
While the coalition could do more in terms of providing guidance and advice, it is ultimately down to the individuals occupying boardrooms - such as those in offices to rent - to realise the benefits energy-efficient initiatives could bring to their company, he noted.
According to the Trades Union Congress, thousands of job opportunities will be lost if the government fails to invest in the UK's green recovery.
