George Derbyshire, chief executive of the NFEA - the national enterprise network - said although there have been many negative stories about the banks recently, this is partly because bad news grabs more headlines.

The balance has been somewhat redressed by a recent survey from R3 showing 44 per cent of business owners believe the banks have been broadly supportive in the three months to September, he stated.

Institutions are asking lots of questions these days, which is understandable as a return to easy credit should not be expected, Mr Derbyshire commented.

"The secret of success is sound business plans, good presentation and a positive relationship with your bank manager," he remarked, which is advice those seeking serviced offices may wish to implement.
