Businesses, such as those using serviced offices in Northampton, may decide to hold training sessions with their staff about the safe use of computers in the workplace, following comments from one expert.
Senior technology consultant at Sophos Graham Cluley stated that while companies tend to have greater IT security than home users, being safe goes beyond installing more software.
He observed that firms need to train staff and inform them about how to use computers safely, in addition to having the correct tools in place.
"Normally it's the human that makes the mistake rather than the computer – they're the weak link. People making poor decisions will often allow hackers into the company," Mr Cluley added.
According to PandaLabs - Panda Security's anti-malware lab – the number of threats created and distributed in the first ten months of 2010 accounted for a third of all viruses that are in existence.
