Businesses, such as those in serviced offices in Northampton, could benefit from using the internet as a communications tool.
That is the opinion of Carole White, business support manager at TEDCO, who wrote in a piece for the Journal electronic trading has grown to reflect the number of transactions that are carried out online.
Companies, including those in serviced offices, can set up an e-commerce site to market their products globally, sell their goods and give customer support, she continued.
Ms White said: "The Office of Fair Trading found that internet technologies have done much to help [small and medium-sized enterprises] due to lower costs and ease of accessibility."
The internet is a "powerful" communications device and has the benefits of being low in cost and high in impact, which makes it a perfect option for organisations of any size, she added.
Chief executive of the Forum of Private Business Phil Orford recently stated the way the internet is continually changing can often leave owners of small firms confused.
