Companies in serviced offices in Hemel Hempstead might wish to concentrate their efforts on the export trade, it has been suggested.
Mark Swift, spokesman for EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, said many UK firms have begun to break into markets such as China, Brazil and Russia, as they realise these are places of growth.
Any progressive organisation will be focusing on foreign, rather than domestic industries, he continued, as the growth opportunities provided by emerging markets are "very evident now".
Mr Swift stated: "Most companies have spread their eggs over more than one basket and decided that they don't want to be over-exposed to one customer, one sector, or one market."
And those in serviced offices might wish to follow suit in order to make themselves less vulnerable to government spending cuts over the next few years.
According to EEF's latest manufacturing report, most firms are experiencing good trading conditions due to rising demands from foreign organisations.
