Firms occupying serviced offices in Edinburgh may have already realised the benefits an implementation of flexible working hours can bring to their company.
Work Wise UK chief executive Phil Flaxton told the Trades Union Congress that thousands of employers have already introduced the scheme into their companies.
"Policies such as staggering work journeys, home working and encouraging cycling and walking are enabling staff to get to work in a better way," he added.
This has led to time and money being saved while the wellbeing and health of employees has also been improved, he observed.
Mr Flaxton urged all businesses that receive flexibility requests to seriously consider introducing the measures within their enterprise.
According to associate director of the Work Foundation Stephen Overell, the normal office hours of nine to five are no longer strictly adhered to.
He stated that a change to the traditional structure of a working day is good and suggested more firms may decide to adopt a flexible approach to employment hours as time passes.
