Businesses in serviced offices could benefit from increasing informal workplace training, it has been suggested.
Skills minister John Hayes has urged all UK companies to promote casual learning in order to help their staff develop new capabilities.
"Businesses … have a unique opportunity to change and indeed improve people's lives. In turn they can reap the harvest of a productive and engaged workforce," he said.
Mr Hayes's comments come after 64 organisations pledged to boost the amount of informal training available to their employees as part of a campaign called Cafe Culture.
The project is run by Business in the Community on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and aims to improve workers' abilities.
And firms in serviced offices may wish to follow the lead of companies such as Barclays Bank and Channel 4, which have both signed up to Cafe Culture in order to advance staff efficiency.
It was recently suggested by Petra Wilton, director of policy and research at the Chartered Management Institute, that good communication between managers and workers is vital to staff motivation.
