Businesses in serviced offices may soon be able to benefit from faster broadband internet, if reported plans by Virgin are anything to go by.
According to ZDNET UK, Virgin has revealed plans to ensure its equipment is capable of 400Mbps transfer speeds.
Currently the network offers 50Mbps across its cable footprint, which covers almost half the UK.
Edd Dawson, managing director of broadband.co.uk, said: "Speed has been moving in the past few years. Hopefully the new government will give emphasis towards that. People want it."
He added that it seems unlikely 400 megabits will become the standard UK speed anytime soon and it is more likely it is just a network showing what it can do.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has recently announced plans to introduce Wi-Fi hotspots across the capital city's tube network as part of the country's preparations for the 2012 Olympics, which may allow workers access to the internet underground.
