Businesses looking for offices to rent may be wise to consider the impact they are having on the environment, it has been suggested.
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC EES) was originally proposed by the Labour Party, but Harry Morrison, general manager at the Carbon Trust, has advised the proposals are unlikely to be changed by the coalition government.
Firms therefore may wish to take action now to deal with the changes, which could be something a move to a serviced office can help with.
Harry Morrison, general manager at the Carbon Trust, said: "I think that all businesses would be prudent to be taking action and assuming that it would be implemented precisely as the order says."
He added the Conservative Party has been supportive of the scheme all along and stated that climate change is a "key part of their policy agenda".
The CRC EES is the UK's main strategy for improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide.
