Employers with staff in serviced offices in Cardiff may decide to encourage them and increase engagement levels by taking steps such as encouraging them to think about what choices they have made.
Jessica Pryce-Jones, chief executive of human asset management company iOpener, said that workers like to feel they are competent and connected with their employers and what they are doing.
"What's quite difficult for lots of people to think about is how they make a difference, but if you really push people, they can give you an answer," she noted.
Ms Pryce-Jones added that bosses could help to motivate their staff by getting them to write a to-do list in the order they want and tell them to follow it.
According to the Chartered Institute for Professional Development's Human Resources (HR) Outlook survey, employee engagement is the top priority for private sector professionals working in HR in the next 12 months.
