Serviced offices in Edinburgh may feature more male IT professionals than women as, according to one expert, ladies are underrepresented in the field.
Maggie Berry, managing director of Women in Technology, explained how there are fewer females working in such positions at senior levels.
"IT remains a male-dominated industry, with men outnumbering women four to one," she commented.
It was suggested that one of the key reasons for this is the "motherhood penalty" that prevents ladies from rising through the ranks at firms.
However, Ms Berry noted that the move towards equal pay and opportunities is helping to promote female IT workers.
She remarked that as a result, many firms are "keen to put diversity at the top of their recruitment agendas".
The comments follow yesterday's (March 8th's) celebration of International Women's Day, which was founded in recognition of the political, economic and social achievements of females.
This year marked 100 years since one million men and women attended rallies in the first ever event in 1911.
