Employers in serviced offices in Cardiff may want to consider following one expert's advice and praising staff for work well done.
Writing for HR Zone, Derek Irvine discussed the concept of predictable rewards verses unexpected appreciation.
He explained that recognising effort that reflects company values and contributes to "strategic objectives" is guaranteed to result in individuals striving to work harder in the hope of receiving the same praise again.
"If you thank someone, they are 100 per cent more likely to help you again in the future than if you don't," he commented.
Mr Irvine suggested that commenting on production is "far more effective" than making employees aware of guaranteed rewards for their work.
He added that "the meaning and power of true, sincere appreciation is limitless" and an important tool in successful businesses.
In a separate article, Mr Irvine recently commented that a lack of thanks can be a motivating factor in why many people look for new jobs.
