People working at serviced offices in Northampton may find they are in line for a pay rise at the beginning of next year.
This is because, according to senior economic advisor to the Ernst & Young Item Club Andrew Goodwin, wages are likely to pick up as the economy begins to find its feet once again.
He predicted that as the recovery "gains greater traction", UK enterprises "should see pay settlements gradually begin to pick up and by the first half of next year we would expect to see wages rising again in real terms".
However, Mr Goodwin explained this could take time and private sector firms, which may use business centres, will be unable to introduce pay rises while unemployment in Britain remains so high.
For the remainder of 2011, the expert claimed there may be little improvement in pay deals in the near future.
This news comes after deputy general secretary of the Trades Union Congress Frances O'Grady said it is essential for workers to receive better pay as it will help the country through the downturn.
