An increasing number of older employees may remain in jobs at serviced offices in Cardiff despite original plans to retire in 2011.
Research carried out by Prudential found that 62 per cent of those who were intending to leave their careers this year are too concerned about their financial situation to do so.
Instead, workers are opting to remain in their positions in order to boost their savings.
The Class of 2011 study also revealed that 53 per cent would like to stay with their current employer, with 32 per cent considering a further two years before finishing.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Vince Smith-Hughes said: "Since 2007 studies by Prudential have identified part-retirement as a growing trend - a trend that looks set to continue in 2011."
He added that for many individuals the wish to remain in a job is partly motivated by the social aspect and intellectual challenges working presents.
The news comes after it was recently announced by the government that the plans to remove the Default Retirement Age by October 2011 would go ahead.
