Staff at offices to rent in Edinburgh could find they are soon expected to bring their own mobile device to work as the IT landscape develops.
This is according to research carried out by enterprise mobility services provider iPass, which found that employees are increasingly using such tools to boost their efficiency.
"Mobility used to be the exception to the rule … now mobility is the rule with mobile employees using their chosen tools to increase productivity up to 240 more working hours each year,” iPass chief executive officer Evan Kaplan explained.
Within the Mobile Workforce Report it was predicted that in 2011 network security services will develop in order to ensure systems are protected as individuals increasingly rely on devices while away from their serviced offices.
In a separate study recently carried out by iPass, it was suggested that the generational divide in technology use in the workplace is a myth with behavioural characteristics proving similar regardless of age.
