Lending money to staff who are struggling financially could be one way for firms operating out of serviced offices in Cardiff to help their employees.
Charles Cotton, performance and reward adviser for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, described how offering such as service may protect workers from getting into further problems.
He explained that "hardship loans" involve companies presenting small amounts of money at low levels of interest to staff members.
It was suggested that such a system can prevent individuals from having to pay "high charges through the banks, or even worse through loan sharks".
However, Mr Cotton noted that these types of financial resources are usual more commonplace at larger firms that have their own credit unions, which may not be possible at smaller organisations.
The Consumer Credit Counselling Service recently revealed that in 2010 49,826 people used their free online counselling service between the hours of midnight and 07:00 GMT.
