Making redundancies at businesses operating out of serviced offices in Northampton could prove more costly in the long run, it has been suggested.
StaffShare founding director Phil Flaxton explained how employers are realising that by letting people go now, they may have to embark on an expensive re-recruitment process in the future.
"What we've found is that organisations in both the public and the private sector are not automatically running towards redundancy programmes," he commented.
Instead, Mr Flaxton described how companies are recognising the need to retain workers and are looking to programmes such as StaffShare as a result.
The service helps level out employment by connecting employers with those available on secondment so as to avoid redundancy.
It is designed to alleviate skills shortages by allowing businesses to temporarily hire individuals without additional costs.
A recent report by StaffShare revealed that up to 30 local authorities will be joining the scheme in January in an attempt to redistribute staff ahead of public sector cutbacks.
