Companies occupying serviced offices in Edinburgh may wish to follow the example of one firm and commit themselves to becoming more sustainable.
John Barwise, chairman of the Cumbria Green Business Forum - an initiative helping businesses to improve environmental performance - said it is great news that Unilever has announced it plans to become energy-efficient.
He noted that the enterprise had worked hard to increase its energy efficiency in recent years and is still going through a transitional period to develop a greener profile for the business.
"Much of what [Unilever intends] to do to reduce waste and save energy can be achieved at minimal cost and in many cases save money," Mr Barwise added.
This may lead firms in offices to rent to look into ways they can become more environmentally-friendly.
Last week, Unilever launched its Sustainable Living Plan, which outlined the company's ambition to halve the impact its products have on the environment and source 100 per cent of agricultural materials it uses sustainably.
