Small businesses have been advised of the importance of bookkeeping, something which such companies operating out of offices to rent in Cardiff may want to note.
Sara Rizk, editor at advice website Startups.co.uk, explained how it is vital organisations stay on top of monitoring their finances.
It was suggested that bookkeeping is an area of business that "you can't neglect" and should be thoroughly maintained.
"You just need to be meticulous about the records that you keep - you can't let anything slide," she commented.
Ms Rizk encouraged people who are not confident in their own abilities to employ someone with the skill to complete the work.
She recommended setting aside half a day each week for bookkeeping so the workload does not build up and become unmanageable at the end of the 12-month period.
The tax year runs from April 6th to April 5th and the deadline for completing online returns is January 31st.
