Members of European Parliament (MEPs) were today (October 13th) reminded of the promises they made to small businesses, such as those using serviced offices in Hemel Hempstead.
A written declaration was presented in European Parliament by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the European Small Business Alliance, which asked for an end to the excessive regulations being placed on small firms.
John Walker, national chairman of the organisation, said it wants to see MEPs and commission officials to act on what they said they would deliver.
"In the EU, every year 1.7 million businesses fail and over 50 per cent of these businesses cite the regulatory burden as a significant factor," he stated.
Mr Walker added obstacles should not be placed in the way of small companies in the current economic climate, so it is easier for them to start or develop.
Earlier this week, Stephen Alambritis, chief spokesman for the FSB, noted those enterprises completing their tax return forms after the November 1st deadline should be given some leeway by HM Revenue and Customs.
