Internet retailer Amazon may have raised the profile of office space to let in Edinburgh by announcing it is to set up a customer support centre in the city.
The firm will establish a base at Waverley Gate, from which it will provide phone and web-based assistance to shoppers.
Approximately 900 jobs are to be created by the move and Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond, said he is "delighted" Amazon is expanding into Edinburgh.
"Edinburgh is an outstanding location, providing us with access to a highly-skilled workforce," remarked Allan Lyall, vice-president of European operations and customer service at the internet giant.
Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said Amazon's decision shows Scotland is a "world-class business destination" and firms looking to expand into new offices to let may be inspired to add Edinburgh to a shortlist of destinations following the announcement.
Earlier this month, retail strategist for Wolff Olins Suzy Radcliffe praised Amazon and online clothes retailer Net-a-Porter for their approach to customer service.
