Office Space in Town, serviced offices have been around in one form or another since 1979. We opened out of necessity as one of the company’s office buildings had come free in Northampton Town Centre and due to a bad market could not be let.
It was decided that it should be turned into a business centre (serviced office), a concept that had been seen on a visit to the USA.
In those days it was called Office, Telecommunications and Secretarial Services or OTSS for short. The building filled almost immediately and so more followed. The OTSS came to the attention of a publicly quoted company called In Shops, and they made an offer to buy it, which was accepted.
However running serviced offices and covered markets was quite different and the business floundered. The original founders of the company saw an opportunity and bought the company back, which was then called City Executive Centres.
The company grew to 15 offices nationwide, most of which were management contracts, running buildings for landlords and tenant as serviced offices. It was a niche market that many operators wanted to get into and finally an offer was made by MWB Business Exchange to buy the company and so it was sold.
However some of the original office remained with the founders and these have become Office Space in Town.
